TEDxGhent 2012: Meeting of Minds
On Saturday, June 16, the second edition of TEDxGhent takes place. TEDxGhent 2012 is organized in collaboration with Ghent University. Tickets cost 35 euro and place to be is the Aula of Ghent University (Volderstraat, Gent). Visit www.tedxghent.be for more information and tickets. Gent BC supports this event.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment & Design, and is primarily known in Belgium thanks to TED@Canvas and www.TED.com. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading”. The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. And now for the second time, this experience comes to Ghent.
This year, the TEDxGhent tagline is ‘Meeting of Minds’. Our speakers will share their passion and vision with our audience in 20 talks, spread over three thematic blocks: ‘city and nature’, ‘body and mind’ and ‘work and life’. We want to establish a genuine ‘Meeting of Minds’, both by introducing new and groundbreaking ideas and by offering our audience and the speakers the opportunity to engage in a constructive dialogue.
Enthusiastic TEDdict Lieven Scheire, known from the ‘Neveneffecten’ will be our host for the day. To see our speaker’s line-up, please visit www.tedxghent.be/2012/speakers.php. For your convenience we are glad to already give you some big names: Frank Van Massenhove! Manos Tsakiris! Anna Coote! Leo Bormans! Others will be announced in the following weeks.
Furthermore TEDxGhent will als offer two Ghent University researchers the opportunity to present their work in a short talk.
